The Great Northern received 250 gondolas from American Car & Foundry in 1952, nos. 72500-72749. They were nearly identical to cars built for the Northern Pacific and S.P.&S. Intended for the Sunshine Kit or newer one-piece offering by the Northern Pacific Historical Society. Set will letter one car. Contains two of the artwork shown.
Our new mini kit release is Great Northern along with Spokane, Portland & Seattle 12 Panel Boxcars. Before you ask, these are not the same cars as the Rapido model which has a straight sill. This kit correctly converts an Intermountain 12 panel boxcar to these prototypes.
All Orders placed from July 6th through July 26th on the website will not ship until after July 28th at the earliest. We’re taking a vacation break here at National Scale Car. Thank you for your patronage.…
There are a couple M55’s and a dozen or so M55B’s, there are no M55A’s in this run. A re-run in the future may or may not happen, I have lots of other projects I want to get to first.
After years of service, many of Pacific Fruit Express’ R-30/40-9 cars required re-sheathing. Numerous R-30/40-9s received plywood side sheathing in the late 1940s. The ends retained their tongue and groove sheathing boards. This mini kit provides the plywood sides to replace those in the Red Caboose Model Kit.
Documented car nos. include 93151 shown above, as well as 91593, 94242, 94789 (page 247, PFE, 2nd Ed.,) and 64771 (a -21 rebuild). For more info, see page 148 of PFE, 2nd Ed.
This was first offered as a gift to attendees of the 6th edition of the Hindsight Virtual RPM in January of 2021. We’ve made a few tweaks, adding a couple of components to make it easier for the modeller.
The kits come with resin sides, etched hatch supports, an extra cross bearer and decals.
More B&O M55’s and M55A’s have been added to stock.
