The Great Northern received 250 gondolas from American Car & Foundry in 1952, nos. 72500-72749. They were nearly identical to cars built for the Northern Pacific and S.P.&S. They were equipped with Universal power hand brakes and ASF 70-ton A-3 Ride Control trucks. The floor boards were an interesting mix of alternating dimensional wood boards and steel channels. The cars were painted freight car red as built and then vermilion red when they received slant style lettering in 1956 on the sides and ends on all surfaces. Intended for the Sunshine Kit or newer one-piece offering by the Northern Pacific Historical Society. Set will letter one car. Contains two of the artwork shown and will letter as built or the angle lettering style with serifs.
