Description

In 1953-54, the Great Northern rebuilt a number of their older 50’ single sheathed cars. New diagonal panel roofs, steel sides and metal running boards were used while the Murphy ends and fishbelly underframes were retained. 450 8’ door cars were created in the 39000-39349 series and 100 16’ door cars were created in the 40000-40099 series.

In addition this set covers the GN 50′ double door cars with PS-1 ends in the 40200-42899 series.

Intended for the Yarmouth kits, Branchline 50′ car for the rebuilt cars and either Kadee or Intermountian for the  50′ PS-1 double door kitbash.

Includes two of the artwork shown and will letter one car in the as built or Glacier Green Schemes.
