Description

PFE built R-40-4 class of reefers in 1929-31, occupying numbers 71273-71953 and 38563-39062.  In 1931-32, PFE rebuilt ealier wood cars into the R-40-8 class, placing them into series 71954-72353, until 1935 when they were renumbered into 90001-91021.

In 1936-1939, PFE reconditioned the R-30-9 reefers and placed them in the 91022-95736 number series. In 1940, PFE reconditioned another batch of cars and placed them in series 95737-98718.

In 1929-31, PFE rebuilt the R-30-4 class reefers and placed them in the series 13220-15919.

Includes two of the artwork shown, lettering up to three cars (one of each class).  Suggested models are Tichy Train Group Kit #4024 PFE Reefer for R-40-4s or -8s; Sunshine or Red Caboose for the R-30-9.  Westerfield for the R-30-4.
